Summer Walk Series: Butterfly Walk

The Clinton Community Library is thrilled to partner with the Town of Clinton Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) for a 4-part Summer Walk Series. August is prime time for butterflies in this part of the world. For part 3 of our series, join Conservation Advisory Council chair Barbara Mansell and other members of the CAC  for a walk along the Norene Coller Nature Trail to see which butterflies we can spot—maybe even Monarchs!

Bees are not the only "pollinators" here where we live. Unlike bees that actively gather and store pollen, butterflies are "incidental" pollinators. They visit flowers strictly to sip nectar for flight fuel, inadvertently picking up and spreading pollen in the process. August is a fun time for spotting butterflies. We will be hoping to see Tiger Swallowtails, Pearl Crescents, Silver Spotted Skippers and maybe there will be some surprises. There might be early migrating Monarchs, too.

Please note: Wear appropriate clothing and footwear. There are grassy paths, with some areas that may be moist, and brushy areas. If it is raining, the walk will be cancelled.
